The car won't drive, shows high-voltage or safety-system warnings, airbags deployed, there's underside damage, or you notice unusual smells, heat or noises. In those cases don't drive or charge it.
Even after a minor bump
Persistent warnings after a small impact are worth checking. Sensors and wiring are often in the crumple zones.
