Sound familiar?
- Airbag / SRS light on after an accident
- Light came back after parts were replaced
- Seatbelt or airbag warning message on the display
What does SRS mean?
SRS stands for Supplemental Restraint System. It's the group of parts that protects occupants in a crash: airbags, seatbelt pretensioners, crash sensors and the control module that decides when to deploy them.
Why the warning can stay on after a crash
Even after damaged airbags and sensors are replaced, the light can remain on. Common reasons include damaged wiring or connectors, a faulty sensor, or the SRS control module having stored crash-event data that needs the correct technical attention after the repair.
Why proper diagnosis matters
This is a safety system. Module work has to be handled carefully and only as legitimate post-repair technical work, such as crash-event data reset or reprogramming where appropriate, after the faulty parts have been put right.
