Sound familiar?
- Vehicle completely dead after an impact
- Told the pyrofuse has operated
- High-voltage system disabled message
What is a pyrofuse?
A pyrofuse is a safety device. In many electric and some modern vehicles, it is designed to cut a high-current electrical connection very quickly, using a small charge, when the car detects a serious event such as a crash.
Think of it as an emergency disconnect. Its job is to make the vehicle safer for occupants and rescuers by isolating power.
Why it matters after a crash
When a pyrofuse has operated, the vehicle will usually not drive. That is the system doing its job. Before anything is replaced or reset, the reason it operated and the condition of the surrounding systems need to be properly assessed.
Our approach
We provide specialist assessment and repair-related services where appropriate. We focus on correct diagnosis and repair, never on getting round the safety system.
If you've been told there is a pyrofuse issue
- 01 Don't attempt to access or bridge any high-voltage components.
- 02 Ask for any diagnostic report you were given.
- 03 Photograph the dashboard messages and damage.
- 04 Contact us for an assessment of what is really needed.
